Circus Maximus is back in town

BREAKING NEWS

The joke which is this Stalinesque show trail of Gov. Palin in Alaska has ended with an outcome which was for ordained from its commencement. Below is a sampling of how some blogs/news sites are reporting it:

First and foremost, the actual report can be found here. (PDF format)

Politico's John Martin:
The legislative committee in Alaska investigating Sarah Palin's involvement in the firing of the state's public safety commissioner found the governor "abused her authority" but that her termination of Walt Monegan was "proper and lawful."

Fox News Election Headquarters:
ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Sarah Palin "abused her power" as governor in firing the public safety commissioner, a legislative panel concluded in an ethics case that Palin's supporters say is politically motivated.

The panel of state lawmakers released its report Friday after spending more than six hours in a closed-door session reviewing the findings, which say a family grudge was a factor in Palin's dismissal of Public Safety Commissioner Walter Monegan, but not the sole factor.

"I think there are some problems in this report," said Republican state Sen. Gary Stevens, a member of the panel. "I would encourage people to be very cautious, to look at this with a jaundiced eye."

The nearly 300-page report does not recommend sanctions or a criminal investigation.

Fight the Palin Smears:
Finding Number One I find that Governor Sarah Palin abused her power by violating Alaska Statute 39.52.110(a) of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act.Finding Number

Two I find that, although Walt Monegan's refusal to fire Trooper Michael Wooten was not the sole reason he was fired by Governor Sarah Palin, it was likely a contributing factor to his termination as Commissioner of Public Safety.

In spite of that, Governor Palin's firing of Commissioner Monegan was a proper and lawful exercise of her constitutional and statutory authority to hire and fire executive branch department heads.

Gateway Pundit:
** The Alaska panel reported that Palin abused power by firing insubordinate employee.

The conclusion:

The investigator, Stephen Branchflower, found that Monegan's refusal to fire Wooten "was not the sole reason" but was "likely a contributing factor" to his firing. In other words-- there was no violation. Look for the media to smear Palin from now until November over this non-scandal.

CNN Political Ticker: [to show you the spin]
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (CNN) — Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin abused her power as Alaska's governor and a violated state ethics law by trying to get her ex-brother-in-law fired from the state police, a state investigator's report concluded Friday.

"Governor Palin knowingly permitted a situation to continue where impermissible pressure was placed on several subordinates in order to advance a personal agenda," the report states.

Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan's refusal to fire State Trooper Mike Wooten from the state police force was "likely a contributing factor" to Monegan's July dismissal, but Palin had the authority as governor to sack him, the report by former Anchorage prosecutor Stephen Branchflower states.

Pat Dollard's reaction:
I am in NO fucking mood for anymore of this bullshit.

I am sick of this perception that republicans in offices of power (governor … president) are not permitted to do things clearly defined in their duties. The man did NOT do his job. He was fired. The trooper had a long list of things that any one or two would have had his filthy ass out in a heartbeat … By the way, early on in this I heard one of the charges against this tasing of the child trooper who also enjoyed drinking in his cruiser, was also KNOWN to be harassing of citizens … Know who/which citizens? The indigenous Eskimo population. You NEVER hear that again or since. Never.

IF Palin were a democrat governor, and this case went down EXACTLY as it has, THAT racist fact about the trooper would be first and foremost mentioned every time the case was brought up … and by extension Palin would be a hero for firing the son of a bitch who didn’t do HIS job in firing the racist, child abusing, drunk-driving trooper bastard …

No Quarter's Larry Johnson:
Sarah Palin cannot expect politicians in Alaska to have her back because she took on the special interests in the Republican party and whipped their ass. Now comes the charge that she “abused” her power? Why? Because she did not tell her husband to stop complaining about her asshole brother-in-law.

The fact that some seemingly rational people want to argue that this is disqualifying of Palin is a fucking joke. For starters, let’s review the fundamental conclusion–there is no evidence that Sarah Palin fired the Public Safety Commissioner because he wouldn’t fire her brother-in-law, the State Trooper. Got it?

Next, her State Trooper brother-in-law, a guy named Wooten, is still on the job. Now let’s ask a question. Let’s suppose that Sarah’s sister and this loser were still married. If this guy were allowed to stay on the job despite misconduct Palin would probably face charges that she was playing favorites.

Hot Air's Allahpundit:
Finding Number One
For the reasons explained in section IV of this report, I find that Governor Sarah Palin abused her power by violating Alaska Statute 39.52.110(a) of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act. Alaska Statute 39.52.110(a) provides the legislature reaffirms that each public officer holds office as a public trust, and any effort to benefit a personal or financial interest through official action is a violation of that trust.

Finding Number Two
I find that, although Walt Monegan’s refusal to fire Trooper Michael Wooten was not the sole reason he was fired by Governor Sarah Palin, it was likely a contributing factor to his termination as Commissioner of Public Safety.

In spite of that, Governor Palin’s firing of Commissioner Monegan was a proper and lawful exercise of her constitutional and statutory authority to hire and fire executive branch department heads.

In a nutshell, she had legitimate and illegitimate reasons to fire him. The former means the termination itself was lawful, the latter means her compliance with the ethics statute wasn’t.

Palin Pride:
In Branchflower's twisted logic, Palin "abused power" by not telling her husband to stop bothering the appropriate legal official about a bad trooper. He finds she did not abuse power by any actual act, such as the firing of Monegan.

Basically, he's saying Palin should have told her husband to knock it off, and by not doing that, she abused HER power. Crazy.

Doesn't make sense at all to me. Of course what really matters is that the statement is out there. Given how little it has taken so far to rile up the MSM and left about Palin, one can only guess how this will play out.

Below I have copied and pasted an email I sent this morning to Mr. Branchflower:

Mr. Branchflower,

Americans throughout this great Republic are quite cognizant that today you will attempt, as a surrogate and acolyte of Sen. Barack Obama, to adversely influence the presidential election in November. It is abundantly clear that your goal is to destroy & smear Gov. Sarah Palin while overlooking the inherent facts of the situation and the powers which are extended to the Governor, as the chief executive officer.

As the above attached picture demonstrates and as the following hyperlinks explain your witch hunt against the Governor & her family would make even Goebbels & Beria blush. (Hot Air, No Wright for America, The Next Right, Flopping Aces, Let’s Get It Right)

Have you no shame, Sir?
Have you lost all sense of common decency?

Govern yourself accordingly,
