Jeanie Buss' Interesting Summer
Summers in Montana are not relaxing for Jeanie Buss. She said taking a long vacation (even to spend time with Phil Jackson) translates into double the workload when she gets back.
So she spent exactly 48 hours recently hanging around Flathead Lake (but not fishing) before coming back to Los Angeles and getting back to the business of the Lakers.
And a full slate awaited her, starting with a trip to her doctor.
She said the stress of Lamar Odom’s drawn-out contract negotiations resulted in her having to “get extra botox because of the worried look on my face. … It worried me like every other Lakers fan.”
Then, her best friend’s husband gets a job in Minnesota, breaking up the Gal Pals — Jeanie and her close friends who sit in the front row at Lakers games. The “Gals” included Linda Rambis, whose husband Kurt recently was named head coach of the Timberwolves.
Buss said the move will be good for Kurt Rambis and Jackson, who she said might coach longer than expected. In fact, Buss said the Lakers coach is feeling so good these days, he has resumed riding a motorcycle.
“After having both hips replaced, I never thought he would attempt that again,” Buss said. “Phil is feeling healthy again.”
Good news all around.
