Holy Father Visits Injured French Cardinal & Roman College

Pope Benedict XVI (R) is greeted by Cardinal Roger Etchegaray during a private visit at the Gemelli hospital in Rome January 9, 2010. Cardinal Etchegaray was injured after that a woman, described as unstable by the Vatican jumped over a barricade lunged at Pope Benedict and knocked him to the floor at the start of his Christmas Eve mass in St Peter's Basilica. Etchegaray, 87, who has been in frail health recently, fell to the floor "in the confusion" and was taken away in a wheelchair. He suffered a broken femur and will have to undergo surgery but is not in serious. (Daylife-Reuters)
